Paige Mathews went the distance with six strikeouts giving up only three hits and one earned run in seven innings of work.
The second game of the homestand went 5 scoreless innings before Kayla Bjorge scored on a Central Florida passed ball. The Manatees only scratched out three hits against College of Central Florida's Jamie Nelson. Megan Schwietert held the Patriots to three hits, no runs, three strikeouts and no walks.
"We are a talented young team," said Head Coach Meredith Headings, "so there is a learning curve going on here. We are happy any time we win at home, however, we have work to do regarding run production. We are looking stronger each day and using every game to evaluate, learn, and prepare for later in the season. All that matters is having this all ironed out for conference play."
The Manatees are now (4-2) and head to Gainesville, FL on Saturday to take on the Santa Fe College Saints.
