Manatees Softball Sweep the Titans

Bradenton, Fla - The Manatees continued their winning ways on Tuesday with a sweep of St. Petersburg College. With the wins, SCF maintained pace with Suncoast Conference leader Florida SouthWestern.

The Manatees rallied back from a three run deficit in the first game.  Erica Ward's two-run, home run, highlighted the Manatees five-run fifth inning comeback.  As the Manatees won 5-3.  Savannah Money added to her team leading batting average, as she went 2-3 with an RBI.  Jaimie Harney scored one run and was 2-3 at the plate.  Kayla Maxwell allowed only five hits and earned her 11th win of the season.  Coach Mandy Schuerman said, "Kayla worked ahead of hitters and limited her free passes which really helped us defensively. Offensively, we stuck to our approach and were able to get some timely hits late in the game."

In the second game, the Manatees struck early and advanced runners throughout the game. Final score of gage game was 9-2.  Pitcher, Jessica Reid improved her record to 15-4. "She has been very good about working ahead of hitters and making them hit her pitch," said Coach Schuerman. Brandi Bunker had two hits and two RBI's on three plate appearances.  Brittany Gilliam leads the team in RBI production and added three RBI's on her 2-4 performance.  Jaimie Harney went 3-4 adding another RBI. Kassidy Neptune knocked her 9th home run of the season. 
SCF improved its record to 27-10 and 11-3 in the Suncoast Conference.  SCF plays host to South Florida State College Thursday at 5:00.
