NJCAA Natonal Tennis Tournament

Tucson, AZ. - For the third consecutive year, the SCF Manatees tennis team has qualified for the NJCAA National tournament.  The Manatees are ranked 5th in the nation in the latest ITA rankings and begin play Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Reffkin Tennis Center in Tucson, AZ. 

Seedings and flights were released late Saturday night.  SCF enters tournament play with 3 seeded singles players and one seeded doubles team.  All seeded players/doubles teams will be idle on the opening day of the tournament and will begin play Monday May 6. 

In the 1 singles flight, Lai Wei has been earned a fourth seed and a bye in the first round of play.  Also earning a fourth seed is Cari Berry, the Region VIII champion at 2 singles, who will await the winner of a first round match between Hartford Community College and Moraine Valley Community College.  Abby Martinez was the highest seeded Manatees tennis player as the second seed in the 3 singles draw.  She will play the winner of a match between St. Petersburg College and Itawamba Community College. Martinez and Berry join forces as the 1 doubles team and have been seeded fifth in the 1 doubles draw.

Action begins at 10:30 EDT on Sunday May 5, 2013 and continues through Thursday May 9, 2013.  Click on the link below for all of the results, seeds, and draws.
