Preview of 2017 Manatees Volleyball Season

Bradenton, FL – The State College of Florida Women's Volleyball team embarks upon a brand-new season. Head Coach, Angelik Byrd, returns for her second season with the Manatees. Coach Byrd inherits a young roster, which includes four returning players and nine first-year Manatees. This year's team will be led by Sophomore, Eliska Truneckova, who is expected to run the offense alongside Freshman, Brandi McGee. The defense will be led by returners Lauren Shively and Carly Cowan.

How quickly this year's team can get comfortable with each other to play at a high level is what Coach Byrd believes will be critical to their success. With a young, talented roster full of fresh faces, expectations remain high, "We lost four starting sophomores with great talent, leadership, intensity and confidence. We will have nine new players on this year's roster who will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the court."

The Manatees start the 2017 season on the road at Daytona State College on August 22, at 6 PM.  SCF will host Eastern Florida State College on Tuesday August 29 at 6 PM to open the home schedule.
