BASKETBALL: Catching up with Coach E - 2/16/2013

We are heading into the last regular season game of the year with a record of 22-7 and 5-3 in the Suncoast Conference. We play this Wednesday at home against a surging Hillsborough team that is very dangerous. We have been playing up and down as of late which makes this game very important. There are many different scenerios depending on who wins and loses tomorrow night for the final rankings within our conference. If we win, we secure at worst, a second place finish which will give us a home playoff game on Monday 2/25. The winner of that game will go to the state tournament in Marianna, FL to play the College of Central Florida. If we are the 2013 Suncoast Conference Champions, we will have a bye to the FCSAA/Region 8 State Tournament and could play the host Chipola College. Central Florida is 25-3 and ranked #5 in the country while Chipola is 24-3 currently ranked #11 in the nation.
 
To represent SCF and the Suncoast Conference at the Region 8 tournament with a chance to win and earn a bid to the national tournament is an amazing accomplishment for our program.  It is a testament to how hard our players and staff have worked throughout the year in order to put ourselves in a position to win the first conference championship since 1993.
