SCF lands six athletes on NJCAA Athletes of Distinction and three All-Academic Teams
COLORADO SPRINGS, Co- The National Junior College Athletic Association named the top academic athletes and academic teams for the 2012-2013 year. State College of Florida had five student-athletes earn Athlete of Distinction awards and three teams named NJCAA All-Academic Team.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Col.- The National Junior College Athletic Association named the top academic athletes and academic teams for the 2012-2013 year. State College of Florida had six student-athletes earn Athlete of Distinction awards and three teams named NJCAA All-Academic Team.
Two athletes
earned Superior Academic Achievement awards:
Chelsea Williams (Volleyball - 3.86)
Bryan Voelkl (Baseball- 3.8)
Four athletes
earned Exemplary Academic Achievement awards:
Chelsea Wildey (Softball- 3.76)
Abigail Martinez (Tennis- 3.73)
Jeff Dally (Baseball- 3.64)
Jarred Smith (Baseball- 3.6).

The NJCAA Academic Student-Athlete Awards are given for the
following accomplishments:
NJCAA Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence (4.00 GPA on a 4.00
scale)
NJCAA Award for Superior Academic Achievement (3.80 to 3.99 on a
4.00 scale)
NJCAA Award for Exemplary Academic Achievement (3.60 to 3.79 on a
4.00 scale)
Baseball (3.10), Softball (3.30) and Volleyball (3.32) earned
NJCAA All-Academic Team awards. Academic Team Awards are given to
teams that have the highest overall GPA for their sport during the
2012-13 academic year. Teams that qualify with an overall team GPA
above 3.0 are designated as a 2012-13 NJCAA All-Academic
Team.
