SARASOTA,Fla.- The State College of Florida softball team attended the Miss Sarasota Softball opening day ceremonies. Head Coach, Meredith Headings, was invited to speak to the crowd and players about the importance of softball in the community.
"Softball isn't just about playing sports and being active. These players are forming life-long friendships and bonds between families and they don't even realize it. Sports help shape these girls to become strong women on and off the field. Students who are engaged in sports often finish goals, complete school, and have higher grade point averages than non-athletes. Supporting institutions like MSS is essential for our community to produce strong, quality young women," said Headings.
Other teams featured on the field that day were Sarasota, Booker, and Riverview high schools. The Sarasota Orioles and other representatives were present as well.
