Men's Basketball starts conference season with OT win over Polk State, 87-83
WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- SCF Basketball took Polk State College into overtime in the conference opener and won, 87-83. This was the first overtime game for the Manatees in the 2012-13 season. There were 13 lead changes between the opponents. SCF had an eight point lead in the first half and Polk shortened it to five at the half. Polk State College is the defending Suncoast Conference Champions and were 15-6 going into last night's contest.

SCF was led by Savad Garner's 26 point performance and freshman Anders Haas added an impressive 21 points. The Manatees' leading scorer, Isaiah Williams, had 14 points before being ejected on two technical fouls. Sophomore, Denzel Myers, put up 12 points including a game tying three-point shot with 1.7 seconds left to send the game in to overtime.
In overtime, SCF immediately hit a 2-point shot off of defensive rebound from Garner. Two sets of free throws by Haas and Michael Sanchez secured the 4-point lead and eventually the win.
SCF is now (18-4) on the season and (1-0) in conference play. The Manatees host conference rival St. Petersburg college this Saturday, at 4pm.
