BASKETBALL: Catching up with Coach E - 12/17/12
I am really proud of how our team finished off #10 ranked Indian River (10-2) last night with a final score of 92-66. They are a great team with at least four NCAA Division I players. We had an amazing crowd for the game. It was certainly the biggest and loudest of the year which I think energized our entire team. We are going to need another great crowd tonight as we take on a very talented ASA team out of Region 15 in Brooklyn, NY.

I'm looking forward to tonight's 7pm game. ASA is coached by my
very good friend, Ken Wilcox. Ken helped me a lot in this business,
especially when I was starting out as an assistant at CCNY in
Harlem. I was coaching current Monroe College assistant, Dana
Warner, at that time. Ken I have been rivals for the last five
years during my time at Monroe. This year, he has a typical ASA
team made up of tough, older, under the radar players with that NYC
swagger. Last night, they had a heartbreaking loss to Polk State
College in overtime and they surely do not want to go back to
Brooklyn (1-2) .This will be another high level basketball game
where fans will get their moneys worth.
At this point in the season, our team is a little banged up.
Starter Isaiah Williams will be a game time decision. He showed a
lot of pride and toughness last night battling through his injury
in the 2nd half. This will be a total team effort tonight as we
will have to rely a lot more on our bench after playing so hard
last night. Playing and winning 3 games
in 3 nights is what we have to do in the state tournament in March
and this is preparing us for that.
Catch up with me next week!
