#3 SCF Women’s Tennis sweeps #23 Hillsborough College
Tampa, Fla - State College of Florida tennis won their fourth consecutive match over a top 25 team beating Hillsborough Community College, 9-0.
Tampa, Fla - State College of Florida tennis won their fourth consecutive match over a top 25 team beating Hillsborough Community College, 9-0. SCF once again dominated the doubles winning #1 & #2 by the same score of 8-1. Hillsborough was playing with only 5 players and had to default #3 doubles.
SCF continued to march to a decisive victory in singles. The Manatees won number #1, #3, #4 and #5 singles, while losing only 2 games. Hillsborough defaulted #6. In the toughest match of the day SCF’s #2 Miranda Talbert, ranked 19 nationally, came from behind after dropping the first set, 6-4. Talbert, playing sick and running a fever showed her physical and mental toughness winning the second set 6-2 and then taking the third set tie-breaker 10-6 points over #44 Julianna Goncalves.
"There is one thing for sure when you speak about Talbert’s competitiveness," Taylor stated, “she has no idea what the word quit means”. He continued "She was going to fight to the last point or drop on the court trying. Luckily for us, she was able to pull out the victory."
The next match for the 7-1 Manatee’s will be the #23 Eastern Florida State College on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the SCF Manatees Tennis courts.
