Five Manatees Sophomores Recognized
Colorado Springs, CO - The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced the recipients of the 2014-2015 Academic Student-Athlete Awards. The NJCAA saw a record number of student-athletes earning these honors. The Manatees had 5 sophomores on the list.
Students can earn one of three awards based upon their academic achievement in a minimum of 45 semester hours of collegiate course work. The categories for these awards, which were formerly called the Academic All-American Awards, are as follows:
- Pinnacle Award for Academic Exellence: 4.00 GPA
- Superior Academic Achievement Award: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- Exemplary Academic Achievement Award: 3.60-3.79 GPA
The SCF Manatees saw 4 sophomores earn the Superior Academic Achievement Award:
- Melinda Geisel (Softball)
- Susanna Peonia (Volleyball)
- Miranda Talbert (Tennis)
- Jennifer Trotter (Softball)
Leah Lieb, an FCSAA All-State setter on the volleyball team, earned a perfect 4.00 GPA and has been honored by the NJCAA with the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence.
