Bradenton, Fla - Natella Nabieva endured numerous rain delays to capture the the USTA/ITA Regional Tournament Championship. Nabieva was ranked as the third best player in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) at the conclusion of the 2014 spring season. For Nabieva, this is her first ITA Regional Championship. She joins Marianna Palacios, Miranda Talbert, and Chloe Murphy as the fourth Manatees tennis player to win this individual tournament.
The tournament began Friday in Altamonte Springs, FL and was scheduled to be completed Sunday. However, the weather did not cooperate. To complete the tournament, its organizers decided to move it to Bradenton and extended an additional day. Nabieva won the championship late in to the evening on Monday.
With the victory, Nabieva has qualified for the USTA/ITA Small College National Championship. This event will take place in Sumter, South Carolina on October 9th-12th.
