SCF Baseball Takes Down Pasco-Hernando
BRADENTON, Fla. – The State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota used traffic on the bases and a relentless bullpen effort to pull away for a 9-2 win over Pasco-Hernando State College on Saturday.
Eight different hitters reached base at least once, and six drove in runs as the Manatees built separation late. Dominic Woodward set the tone in the middle of the order, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI, repeatedly finding gaps and extending innings. Joshua Reiter matched him with two hits and two RBI of his own, delivering key swings with runners aboard.
Ryan Kaitz created constant pressure at the top of the lineup, finishing 2-for-3 with two walks and an RBI. Karson Grout added two hits, scored once, drove in a run, and swiped a base, while Bernard Barnes came through with a pair of RBI. Will Rawls contributed in multiple ways — drawing two walks, lifting a sacrifice fly, stealing a base, and scoring once.
The Manatees' 12-hit output was complemented by patience at the plate, as they drew eight walks and struck out nine times — consistently forcing deep counts and capitalizing on opportunities.
On the mound, SCF deployed seven arms and kept the Bobcats from stringing together sustained rallies. Cole Dement (2-1) was particularly sharp in relief, striking out four across two scoreless innings to seize control of the middle frames. Daniel Norbeck allowed just one run over two innings, and Vincent Cooke, Baden Wallace, Abel Martin, and Riley McDonald combined to close the door over the final four innings without allowing a run.
Pasco-Hernando State collected eight hits, including doubles from Alex Rodriguez and Rocco DeMarinis, but managed just two runs and left opportunities on the table. A timely double play turned by Josh Castellani, Will Rawls, and Bernard Barnes helped extinguish one of the Bobcats' better threats.
