Baseball Takes the Series Against Indian River
Game 1 of the Double-Header
SCF leaned on strong pitching and timely hitting to secure a 3–1 victory over Indian River State College on Saturday afternoon.
Right-hander Lochlan Radloff delivered a complete-game gem, tossing seven innings while allowing just one run on four hits. He walked two and struck out one, working efficiently and keeping Indian River off balance all game. The lone blemish came on a solo home run by Andy Schroeder, which accounted for the Pioneers' only run.
Offensively, SCF did just enough to back their starter. Holden Brauner provided a key RBI, while Josh Castellani continued his strong day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Bernard Barnes added a double and scored a run, and Ben Ryan crossed the plate as part of the Manatees' three-run effort.
SCF totaled seven hits and drew four walks, manufacturing runs against Indian River starter Javi Miranda, who struck out six but surrendered three earned runs over six innings.
Defensively, the Manatees turned in a clean performance behind Radloff, limiting Indian River to just four hits and preventing any late rally.
Game 2 of the Double-Header
The State College of Florida offense came alive on both power and timely hitting to overwhelm Indian River State College, cruising to a 12–4 victory.
Dominic Woodward led the charge, going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, two RBIs, and scoring three times. Josh Castellani turned in a monster day at the plate, collecting two hits including two homers and driving in six runs. Will Rawls chipped in a double, and the team executed a double play with Will Rawls and Bernard Barnes, keeping the defensive side sharp.
On the mound, Cole Dement got the start but ran into trouble, allowing three runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts over four innings, including surrendering a solo home run to Andy Schroeder. Riley McDonald relieved and stabilized the game, tossing four innings while allowing just one run and striking out one, earning the win. SCF's pitching duo held Indian River to just four runs on 11 hits while limiting big innings and keeping runners off base when it mattered most.
For Indian River State College, Andy Schroeder was the offensive bright spot, hitting a home run, driving in all four of the team's runs, and adding a sac fly. EJ Burns and Jacob Suazo each contributed two hits, but the Pioneers couldn't match the Manatees' offensive firepower.
