Baseball Scores 12 Against St. Pete
SCF Baseball put together a balanced offensive attack and strong bullpen effort to defeat St. Petersburg College 12–3.
SCF collected 12 hits and drew seven walks, using patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning to build early momentum and pull away late.
Karson Grout sparked the offense, reaching base five times with two hits, three walks, and three runs scored, including a double. Josh Castellani added two hits and three runs scored, while Dominic Woodward delivered a key performance with two hits and two RBIs. Holden Brauner and Will Rawls also chipped in with two hits each, with Rawls driving in a run.
Center fielder Calin Heath contributed offensively as well, recording a double and scoring two runs, helping keep pressure on the St. Petersburg defense throughout the game.
On the mound, Trevor Zeigler earned the win, allowing two runs on six hits over three innings. The SCF bullpen then combined for six innings of one-run baseball, with Daniel Norbeck, Baden Wallace, Andrew Raucci, Nick Curbelo, Abel Martin, and Dominic Woodward limiting St. Petersburg to scattered hits while striking out nine. Curbelo highlighted the relief effort with three strikeouts in a scoreless inning.
St. Petersburg matched SCF with 12 hits, led by Yail Nater, who went 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and Angel Pichardo, who collected two hits and two RBIs. However, defensive struggles proved costly, as the team committed seven errors, leading to multiple unearned runs that allowed SCF to extend the lead.
