Baseball Earns Mid-Week Victory Over Tampa JV
The Manatees combined patience at the plate with dominant pitching to roll past University of Tampa JV, 11–2, in a game that steadily tilted in SCF's favor.
SCF's offense didn't rely on a barrage of hits but instead capitalized on free passes and timely swings, drawing eight walks and turning just eight hits into 11 runs. Karson Grout set the tone at the top, going 2-for-6 with a double and scoring twice, consistently finding ways to get on and spark innings.
The middle of the lineup delivered the key blows. Holden Brauner drove in two runs and reached base twice, while Steele Burd added an RBI and worked a walk despite a three-strikeout day. Joshua Reiter chipped in with an RBI hit, and Ryan Kaitz made an impact without a hit, drawing two walks, scoring twice, stealing a base, and driving in a run.
One of the most dynamic performances came from Will Rawls, who went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI, and three stolen bases, constantly putting pressure on the defense and creating scoring opportunities.
On the mound, SCF's pitching staff was overwhelming. A combination of seven pitchers held Tampa JV to just three hits while racking up 16 strikeouts. After early innings from Trevor Zeigler and Cole Dement, Chase Wildroudt earned the win with a clean inning, and the bullpen took over from there.
Abel Martin and Nick Curbelo each turned in sharp outings, and Ben Ryan closed things out with a scoreless inning, capping off a dominant all-around effort from the staff.
Tampa JV struggled to generate offense against the constant wave of arms, with Sam Holland and Sage Guesnard accounting for the team's RBIs. Despite drawing four walks, they were unable to string together hits against SCF's pitching depth.
