SCF 3-1 at Miami Dade tournament
MIAMI,FL-SCF went 3-1 over the weekend at the Miami Dade tournament. The Manatees beat St. Thomas University with Tina Campbell on the mound and Paige Mathews in relief. Alyssa Ely was 3-for-3. Against Hillsborough CC, the team came out swinging to win 6-0 behind pitcher Kirstin Toole. On Sunday, the Manatees lost to #2 ranked Florida State College-Jacksonville 3-0. Then they faced the host team, Miami Dade to cap off the tournament. The Manatees answered a Miami homerun with a 5th inning 2 out rally. Kayla Schappacher doubled to score Kat Gavern. Shannon Brockett walked, Alyssa Ely singled, and Gianni Artidiello hit an RBI single to go ahead 2-1. Miami tied it in the 7th to force tie-breaker extra innings. Cindy Micochero hit a two-run homerun for the victory in the 8th. Paige Mathews extends her record to 5-2.
