BRADENTON, Fla.- State College of Florida softball signed 13 incoming players on Saturday at their 7th Annual "Past, Present, Future Day". SCF alumni (past) played the current team (present) and following the game they signed the future.
Incoming players include Jillion McElderry, Brittany Gilliam, Brandi Bunker, Katie Behm, Alissa Jackson, Danielle Lobozzo, Savannah Money, Kassidy Neptune, Jessica Reid, Nikki Sedivy, Casey Simmons, Erica Ward, Kayla Taylor and Kasey Wishart.
"This class could be the strongest overall class we've ever had. We are adding huge depth in the bullpen with stars like Jill McElderry from Fivay, Lobozzo, Reid, Taylor, and Katie Behm from St. Thomas Aquinas who were the 2013 State Champs," said SCF Head Coach, Meredith Headings. "We've got huge power in the big lefty stick from Chiefland, Brittany Gilliam, Danielle Lobozzo from Cornerstone Charter, and Kassidy Neptune out of Mitchell High School. Savannah Money, Alissa Jackson, Jessica Reid, Casey Simmons and Brandi Bunker add speed, more power, and passion. Erica Ward and Nikky Sedivy are two of the best catchers we've seen in the state and they bring leadership and fire to the field. It is exciting to think about getting players like Kayla Taylor and Kasey Wishart here too. Wishart is a vocal player who loves the game and Taylor has no idea how good she can be! 2014 was a great class to recruit from and we are thrilled with the ones we have coming in to compliment our returners," said Headings.
SCF added one local star to the incoming class in Riverview High's Alissa Jackson. "Alissa is a speedy player who can switch hit, slap and is an excellent outfielder. She continues a long line of Sarasota Heat stars that have been a big part of SCF's success over the years," said Headings.
