COLORADO SPRINGS, Co- The National Junior College Athletic Association named the top academic athletes and academic teams for the 2012-2013 year. State College of Florida had five student-athletes earn Athlete of Distinction awards and three teams named NJCAA All-Academic Team.

(Bradenton, Fla., May 30, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has named Dr. Lonni Wilson the new coach of the women's volleyball team. “I am excited to take the reins of the SCF volleyball program. The athletic program at SCF has a rich history of focusing on excellence both on the court and in the classroom,” said Wilson. Wilson has 20 years of head coaching experience, including six years on the collegiate level. He has coached at all levels of college volleyball including the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I, II and III.

(Bradenton, Fla. April 23, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Women's Head Volleyball Coach Carmine Garofalo has announced his plans to retire from coaching. Under Garofalo's three-year leadership as head coach of the SCF Manatees Volleyball team, the team has achieved an overall record of 71-32, claimed the 2010 Suncoast Conference Championship and qualified for the state tournament for two seasons. For his team's achievements, Garofalo also was named 2010 Suncoast Conference Coach of the Year.

BRADENTON, FLA. – State College of Florida, head women’s volleyball coach Carmine Garofalo announced on Thursday the signing of Kalli Collier of Spanish Fork for the 2013 volleyball season. Collier is a 5-foot-8 setter with exceptional athletic ability, according to the coach. She was a four-year starter, captain and MVP for Maple Mountain High School.

BRADENTON, FL – The State College of Florida head women’s volleyball coach Carmine Garofalo, is pleased to announce that Hannah Curtis of Mishawaka Indiana is the first recruit to sign with the Manatees for the 2013 volleyball season.

TAMPA, Fla.- The Manatees traveled to Tampa on Friday where they played their second beach event of the spring. The tournament was hosted by HCC, and the Manatees won 9 of their 10 dual matches. In the first round of the tri-match, SCF defeated host HCC 4-1. In the second round, the Manatees continued their dominance by shutting out Polk State College 5-0. For the second week in a row, the Manatees were led once again by Tessa Alyman and Brittany Jaco. They won both their matches in two straight sets. After two events, they are undefeated for the season and are the top dual team to date. Also going undefeated for SCF were the teams of Rachel Arnason/Natalie Fraley and Danielle Williams/Abi Van Ostenbridge. SCF plays its third beach event on April 5th on St. Pete Beach.

BRADENTON, Fla.- After a successful indoor season of volleyball, SCF Manatees are back at it, this time on the beach. Coach Carmine Garofalo recently announced the spring beach season schedule which includes three tournaments with Suncoast Conference teams and one of the largest collegiate beach tournaments in the country, "Fiesta on Siesta", held on Saturday April, 13th.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.- The State College of Florida volleyball team’s dream of a berth in the National Junior College Athletic Association national tournament ended along with its season Sunday in Jacksonville. The College of Central Florida defeated the Manatees 25-17, 25-15 and 25-23 in the state tournament, which also serves as a region qualifier for the national event to be held later this month at West Plains, Mo. Central Florida went onto win the state tournament later Sunday with a victory over Hillsborough Community College. Both schools will move onto the national event as the champion and runner-up of the tournament.

BRADENTON, Fla.- The State College of Florida volleyball team landed three players on the Suncoast Conference First-Team for the 2012 season. Tessa Alyman, Kierston Smith, and Natalie Fraley received top team honors. Two more Manatees were recognized on the second team, Brittane Hunter and Nicole McDonald.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Each week the volleyball players with the most outstanding performances are honored by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). This week, the State College of Florida's Kathryn Torre was named Defensive Player of the Week. Kathryn Torre (Fr, Highland, IL) a 6’2” middle blocker from State College of Florida, is the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week. The freshman had 15 blocks for the week, with an average of 1.5 blocks per game. Torrie’s efforts at the net helped the Manatees achieve a 10th (njcaa.org) placed ranking in the nation.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Tessa Alyman is the Offensive Player of the Week and Natalie Fraley is the Defensive Player of the Week for games through September 22nd. State College of Florida Volleyball continues to celebrate the accomplishments during the week of Sept. 22. The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) names an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week throughout the volleyball season. This week, SCF landed both honors.

BRADENTON, FL.— For the third week in a row, SCF Manatees Volleyball (17-3) continues to show it has the depth and talent to compete at the National Level. After another big week of volleyball that featured a third conference win (3-0) and a perfect showing at Manatees’ very own volleyball invitation held Sept 21st and 22nd at Hal Chasey Gymnasium, the Manatees Volleyball Team moved up to 10th place in the National Poll.

BRADENTON, Fla.- The State College of Florida Volleyball team opened their conference season with a big win over Polk State College. The Eagles were the 2011 Conference Champions and fell in five to the Manatees. Sophomore, Natalie Fraley, led SCF in digs with 17 and also had 5 aces. Tessa Alyman (12 digs) and Nicole McDonald (2 aces) had nine kills each. Sophomore setter, Kierston Smith, added seven kills and 47 assists for the night. Other standout performances were Danielle Williams with eight kills and Rachel Arnason with 13 kills.
